Forest products handled by ABP include timber, pulp, paper, and board to and from Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic and beyond in containers, roro, and conventional shipments.
The Humber is the centre of forest products trade in Britain. The Ports of Hull and Immingham combined handle more than one million tonnes of forest products each year. ABP invests in modern facilities and equipment; a good example being a £1 million upgrade of paper handling equipment at the Port of Hull.
Further down the east coast, the ports of Kings Lynn and Ipswich specialise in forest products and sawn goods, with regular services from Scandinavia and the Baltic states and extensive areas of covered storage available. Ipswich also offers a dedicated timber treatment service. For moe information about ABP's Ipswich Timber Treatment Centre please visit: www.abports-timbertreatments.co.uk. At other ABP ports such as Swansea and Newport regional markets and beyond are served by facilities capable of handling some of the largest forest product vessels serving the market. The Port of Barrow handles wood pulp shipments on behalf of the adjacent Kimberly-Clark manufacturing plant.
ABP's Scottish Ports of Ayr and Troon offer the dedicated Timberlink service. Operated with the support of the Forestry Commission Scotland, Timberlink transports around 100,000 tonnes of west coast timber by sea from a variety of locations in an environmentally friendly fashion.
Our ports also offer specialist forest product operators, dedicated facilities and excellent road and rail connections, offering a comprehensive logistic solution to entire the British market.
Our commercial team would be pleased to put together a package of port facilities tailored for your business in our unique network of 21 ports.
