Dr Phil Nolan joined ABP as Non-Exective Chairman of Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd in July 2017. Mr Nolan is alos Non-Executive Chairman of John Laing Group Pls and Affinity Water Limited. Prior to this Mr Nolan worked with British Petroleum, British Gas and served as CEO of Eircom, Ireland's national telecommunications supplier from 2002 to 2006.
James Cooper became Chief Executive and executive director of the Board of Associated British Ports Holdings in April 2013. Prior to this Mr Cooper was a non-executive director of the Board of Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd from May 2007 to January 2013 and was a director of Infracapital, part of M&G Investment Management Limited. From 1998 he worked for BNP Paribas, where he was co-head of UK Corporate Finance. Between 1992 and 1998 he worked for Hambros Bank, where he led the transport sector team and was a director. He was previously Chairman of Red Funnel Group Holdings Ltd, Alticom Holdings BV and Calvin Capital Ltd and a director of Zephyr Investments Ltd and of Kelda Group Ltd.
Chief Financial Officer
Sebastian Bull became Chief Financial Officer and a Director of Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd in February 2011 and is Chairman of the Finance Committee. Mr Bull was previously Director of Finance and Administration at More London Development Limited from 2003 to 2010. From 1998 to 2002, Mr Bull held senior commercial and finance roles, including Corporate Finance Director, Network Development Director and Finance Director, at Railtrack (now Network Rail). Prior to Railtrack, Mr Bull spent 14 years working in corporate finance roles for UBS. Mr Bull trained as a Chartered Accountant for KPMG.
Philippe Busslinger joined the Board of Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd in June 2011. He is a member of the Remuneration and Nomination and Finance Committees. Mr Busslinger is a Senior Vice President at OMERS Infrastructure, based in the London office. Prior to joining OMERS Infrastructure, Mr Busslinger was an executive director with Goldman Sachs in its London office where he advised clients in M&A transactions across Europe. Previously he worked for McKinsey & Company as a consultant. Mr Busslinger holds and MBA from Columbia Business School in New York and a BA (Business) from ICADE Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid.
John McManus was appointed as a director of Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd in January 2013. Prior to this, Mr McManus served as alternate director to Michael Rolland from January 2012. Mr McManus is Chairman of the Audit Committee. Mr McManus began his career with an international accounting firm, before working with several successful entrepreneurs on business development, financings and venture capital investments. He joined Borealis in 2001 and is currently jointly responsible for managing the Borealis transaction team and head of Borealis's London office. His experience covers investments ranging from nuclear power to satellite technology. Mr McManus is actively involved with, and is a member of the board of directors of, Bruce Power (the largest generation facility in North America) and Ciel Satellite (provider of satellite communications throughout Canada). Mr McManus holds a Bachelors of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and is a Chartered Accountant.
George Kay joined the Board of Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd in August 2006. He is Chairman of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee and a member of the Refinancing Committee. He is a director of AEI, an emerging-market energy infrastructure company based in Houston. Mr Kay is also an Advisory Committee Member of Citi Infrastructure Investors. Prior to joining GIC Special Investments in early 2006, where he is responsible for infrastructure investments in Europe and South America, Mr Kay worked in principal finance for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Prior to that he worked for Westpac Banking Corporation as Senior Credit Analyst.
John Morea joined the Board of Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd in June 2011. He is currently CEO of Scotia Gas Networks (SGN), a £4.2bn company which owns and operates the gas distribution networks in Scotland and across central southern and south-east England, including all the London boroughs south of the River Thames. SGN employs around 6,000 staff and contractors across its regions and is responsible for the safe and secure provision of gas to some 5.7 million customers. SGN is a joint venture between Scottish and Southern Energy (50%), OMERS Pension Fund (25%), and Ontario Teachers Pension Fund (25%). Mr Morea joined SGN in May 2005 from Scottish and Southern Energy Plc where he was Network Director with responsibility for the operation and asset management of SSE's electricity distribution networks. He has extensive experience of electricity distribution and a growing knowledge of gas. Mr Morea sits on the SSE Management Board and has been a past Board member of the Energy Networks Association and has over 20 years' experience in utilities; is a member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology and Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers.
Stewart Hicks joined the Board of Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd in November 2013. He is currently also a Senior Advisor with Bamboo Finance, an impact investment fund, and sits on the Investment Committee of CDC, the UK government development fund. Mr Hicks worked at GIC, the Singapore Government sovereign wealth fund from 2008 to 2014; and sat on a number of boards of investee companies in India and Hong Kong. With GIC and his previous position in the International Finance Corporation (part of the World Bank Group) Mr Hicks evaluated projects for investment in both emerging and developed markets covering infrastructure, natural resources, engineering, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. He has a further 15 years' general management experience managing business in competitive industries in the USA, Europe, India, Singapore, China, and Hong Kong, working for APW, VERO, BICC, M&M Mars, and British Aluminium. Mr Hicks holds an MBA with distinction from London Business School and has a Physics degree from the University of Oxford.
Cressida Hogg joined the Board of Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd in July 2015. She is Managing Director and Head of Infrastructure for the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB). Based in London, she is responsible for overseeing CPPIB’s significant global infrastructure program which, as of March 31, 2015 amounted to C$15.2 billion in assets. Prior to joining CPPIB in 2014, Ms Hogg was the Managing Partner of 3i’s infrastructure business, which she co-founded in 2005. While at 3i, she was appointed a member of the UK government’s Infrastructure Advisory Council, created to strengthen links between the government and private sector. Ms Hogg currently is a Director of Land Securities Group and of Anglian Water Group. Ms Hogg holds a B.A. in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from St. John’s College Oxford and an MBA from the London Business School. She was awarded a CBE in 2014.
Hakim Drissi Kaitouni joined the Board of Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd in July 2015. Mr. Drissi Kaitouni has been the Managing Director of Wren House Infrastructure (WHI) since he founded it in October 2013 with US$5 billion of equity funding. Mr. Drissi Kaitouni is responsible for all WHI’s activities globally and is a member of its investment committee. He leads and coordinates all aspects of WHI’s mandate and business areas, including investments origination, execution and asset management. He drove WHI’s investments in Thames Water, Associated British Ports, Global Power Generation, Viesgo Infraestructuras Energéticas, London City Airport and Australia’s Transgrid. Prior to setting up Wren House, Mr. Drissi Kaitouni served as a senior banker in the Corporate Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions team within the Investment Banking Department of BoA Merrill Lynch based in London and New York. He is also non-executive board member of London City Airport and Viesgo Infraestructuras Energéticas where he chairs and is a member of committees of the board. He is an Alliance Member of the Atlantic Council. Mr. Drissi Kaitouni holds a bachelor degree in Computer Science from Queens College.
John Coghlan joined the Board of Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd in March 2016. He is a Non- Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Severn Trent PLC, and is a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee of Lavendon PLC. He also chairs Freight Transport Association of Ireland. Mr Coghlan was previously Deputy Chief Executive and Group CFO of Exel PLC, where he spent 11 years from 1995 to 2006 until the takeover by Deutsche Post/DHL. Over the years since 2006, he has been a director of several publicly-quoted and private equity-owned companies across a variety of sectors. Prior to Exel PLC, he spent 8 years at the industrial company, Tomkins PLC, in a variety of financial roles, and 7 years at Arthur Andersen, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Mr Coghlan received a Business degree from University College, Cork in Ireland.
Andrew Hay was appointed to the Board in June 2016 and is a Senior Principal in the Infrastructure group for the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB). Based in Toronto, Andrew is a senior member of the infrastructure team and has worked on investment opportunities in North and South America, UK, Europe, Asia and Australia. Andrew is currently a Board member of BAI Communications, a telecommunications infrastructure company; and Australian toll roads Westlink M7 and NorthConnex. Prior to joining CPPIB in 2006, Andrew was a Director in KPMG's Public and Infrastructure Finance advisory group and worked with global public and private sector infrastructure clients. Andrew holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business and a BSc from York University.
John Rishton joined the Board in November 2016. He is a Non- Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committees at Unilever, Informa and Serco. He was previously a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committees at Rolls-Royce and Allied Domecq. John was Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce from 2011 until July 2015 when he retired. Prior to this he was Chief Executive of Ahold, a Dutch supermarket company where he worked from 2006 until 2011. Before this he worked for British Airways for 11 years and was CFO from 2001 until 2005. John started his executive career at Ford Motor Company where he worked for 16 years in the Finance Department. John is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has an economics degree from Nottingham University.
Alternate Non-Executive Directors
Peter Hofbauer was appointed alternate director in March 2016. Mr Hofbauer joined Hermes Infrastructure in late 2010 as Head of Infrastructure and is responsible for co-ordinating the team’s activities and infrastructure investments. He chairs the infrastructure investment committee. Peter has over 30 years financial services experience including 28 years of global infrastructure investing. His previous roles include Global Head of Infrastructure at Babcock & Brown where he was involved in the origination and management of more than 170 assets ($25 billion of infrastructure assets globally) over 20 years, and Associate Director at Westpac Banking Corporation, focusing on project finance and advisory services. Mr Hofbauer qualified as a Bachelor of Business at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne. He is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a Member of the Tax Institute (Australia).
Philip Butcher was appointed alternate director in June 2016. He is a Principal at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) and is based in London. Prior to joining CPPIB in 2012, Mr Butcher worked at Macquarie Capital in Toronto where he started out in the Telecom, Media, Entertainment and Technology advisory team, and subsequently moved to the Infrastructure advisory team working on principal transactions and 3rd party mandates. Mr Butcher holds an MBA from London Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto.
Kenton Bradbury was appointed alternate director in November 2015. In his role at OMERS Infrastructure as Managing Director, Asset Management, Kenton is responsible for the active management of infrastructure investments, with a focus on Europe. This includes the recently announced investment in Fortum's electricity distribution networks in Sweden, Caruna and Net4Gas. Kenton also sits on the board for Net4Gas. Prior to OMERS Infrastructure, Kenton was a Director at Infracapital (the infrastructure investment arm of M&G Investments) where he sat on the boards of various portfolio companies. His previous roles include positions at e.on, Deloitte Consulting and Logica where he gained extensive experience in sectors such as rail networks, power distribution, gas transmission, power generation & trading, and regulation. Kenton holds a BA in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, and is a Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
